The Austrian Arlberg region in Tyrol is said to be the cradle of alpine skiing. No wonder, since this region is one of the most beautiful and best known ski regions in Austria. Five cities around the Arlberg claim "to give winter a name", and once you arrived in the winter epitomes Lech, Zuers, Stuben, St. Christoph or St. Anton, you know why. People, ambiance and the scenery create a traditional and idyllic atmosphere that attracts tourists from all over the world to spend their summer or winter vacation both relaxing and exercising above 1,200 meters. While summer welcomes tourits to the Arlberg region with lush meadows and a golden sun in a clear blue sky, winter covers the region in a beautiful and pure white blanket of snow that makes skiers dream.
The Arlberg ski region consists of more than 80 mountain railways and lifts that bring the skier to 270 kilometers of prepared slopes and more than 180 kilometers of fine powder snow or corn snow slopes. Those who are not that much into skiing can have fun on the toboggan run or enjoy the gorgeous scenery of snow topped mountains and valleys while walking on one of ten hiking routes. Skiing, hiking or just getting exercise in the Arlberg ski region is not only fun but also good for your health. Mountain air has a positive effect on the human organism and for example contributes to the efficient working of the heart and the blood circulation. And when the sun sets and you get back from the snowy slopes, the day is not over yet: top the fun day off with the traditional Après Ski in one of the many lodges around the Arlberg and warm up again with a hot tea and maybe a hot flirt.
